Meet Board Member - Dr. Tory C. Hill
Superintendent Dr. Tory C. Hill began his tenure as superintendent on February 1, 2022, after being appointed by the CISD Board of Trustees.
Under Dr. Hill’s leadership, Channelview ISD has experienced remarkable growth and progress. He helped in developing a comprehensive five-year strategic plan for the district, which has set the stage for continued success and achievement.
Recognizing the importance of literacy as a foundational skill, Dr. Hill has placed a strong emphasis on promoting literacy initiatives throughout the district. By implementing innovative programs and strategies, he has fostered a culture of reading and enhanced the literacy skills of students at all grade levels.
In addition, Dr. Hill has actively promoted community engagement within Channelview ISD by understanding the value of strong partnerships between schools and the community. Through community forums and collaborative projects, Dr. Hill has fostered a sense of unity and cooperation between the district, parents, students and community stakeholders.
Dr. Hill’s commitment to strategic planning, literacy promotion and community engagement has contributed to the overall growth and success of Channelview ISD. His dedication to creating a thriving educational environment reflects his unwavering belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of cultivating strong relationships with all stakeholders involved.
Before joining Channelview ISD, Dr. Hill served as the Superintendent of Sweeny ISD, where he achieved notable accomplishments. In 2020, he was recognized as a nominee for Superintendent of the Year in Region 4. During his five-year tenure at Sweeny he helped pass a $28 million bond. Additionally, he successfully secured a $1.7 million agreement with Chevron Phillips, resulting in the naming rights for the new Sweeny ISD CPChem CTE Center.
Dr. Hill’s educational journey includes a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A & M University. He also holds a master’s degree in education from Florida A & M University and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Southern University.
Prior to the Superintendent role, Dr. Hill served as a social studies teacher in Georgia, Florida and Texas. He was assistant principal, principal and Assistant Superintendent in the Katy Independent School District. He also served as the Executive Director of Professional Learning in the Clear Creek Independent School District.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Hill is a dedicated family man. He is happily married to Cassandra, and they have three beautiful daughters: Niesha, Taylor, and Khadija.
